The Gratitude series began very shortly after I quit my job in the fall of 2005. I wanted to design something that reflected my delight in being able to persue a career in the arts, and my gratitude to the people -- my partner for her willingness to risk having to support us both on her salary alone; my friends who helped me brainstorm and plan; and, of course, my customers, who made it all possible -- who had offered me support and encouragement in countless different ways. It has since become one of my best-selling designs; this piece is #67 in the series.
If you've encountered this piece on its travels, please let us know here. Feel free to post a photo, an excerpt from the accompanying journal, or anything else that strikes your fancy.

Gratitude #67 is currently in Boston, Massachusetts.
I received it in the mail from Kythryne yesterday, and took it out today on a lovely bright morning and snapped some photos on Boston's Long Wharf. It's one of my favorite spots in the city, only a few blocks away from my apartment. I watched the most beautiful moonrise from this spot last summer, and you can also see Jack Nicholson skulking around it in The Departed.
I also wore it this afternoon to visit my parents for Mother's Day. My sister says it looks like an Everlasting Gobstopper, but I think she meant that in a good way.
I was delighted to receive this piece, especially after reading what inspired the series, as I vacated an office job in favor of full-time artistry around the same time in 2005. I'll be wearing it tomorrow and snapping a few more photos (and hopefully getting the boy to take one of it actually on me,) before I write something up in the journal and pass it along later this week.

Gratitude #67 is currently in Dallas, Texas.
I received the pendant from Erin several weeks ago, and was absolutely stunned by how gorgeous it is. I actually ended up wearing it to my sister's wedding, and took it out for drinks and dinner (it's not only pretty, it's also a cheap date) to get snaps in some of my favorite places. I finally settled on this shot with my cat, Sophie, both of us enjoying the light and cool breeze on the first day in Dallas without rain in about a month.
The timing of this piece was serendipitous for me. Erin sent it right at a time when things went a bit topsy-turvy, and it was lovely to wear the pendant and remember who sent it and why it was created. I've loved being a part of this journey, and on Friday, I'll send it on to another friend to continue its travels.

Gratitude #67 is now on its travels again but before it officially leaves me, a couple of photos:
As it was now in England I felt it needed to be seen at that most English of events, a cricket match. And where better to see a cricket match than the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord's.
I have loved having it for the past couple of weeks. I celebrated my wedding anniversary on Sunday and it was wonderful to wear it all day on a day when the meaning felt particularly poignant.
Thank you so much for involving me in this project, I hope everyone else has as much fun as I did.

It's taken me ages to get round to posting, but I should account for where Gratitude #67 has been since Bex sent it on to me. It's been with me in Edinburgh. I don't have proper mysterious photos, though!
I wore it for my kids' babywarming and for my civil partnership/ wedding party.
Sometimes gratitude is really simple.
It's gone on now, to a friend who I hope will take some strength from it. Wish her well, everyone, as she heads towards a scary time.

Gratitude has been with me for a long time, and I should apologise. My friend Kate passed it to me as I was going in for breast cancer surgery. We were grateful that it had been caught early. I was going to pass it on 3 weeks later as I was expecting the all clear. The news wasn't good and we learned that I had had stage 2 invasive cancer. But I was/am still lucky because it was caught early.
It's taken me a long time be feel grateful again, for more than an instant, but yesterday I reached the halfway point of my chemo journey, and the end of the heavy duty treatment, I have 4 more, and they are a lighter version. I've also just read "Cancer Vixen" (google it, you'll be glad that you did) which made me laugh and want to start to look forward again.
There's an arm length picture of me taken by myself when I wore it to lunch with my husband and parents on my flickr site:

And a blog post about it here, a few days before the bad news.

Now it's time to pass Gratitude on - I'm not sure where, can someone suggest?
I'm sorry it's been static so long, Alison

Oh, wow. I'm sorry you're going through all of that! It's interesting, of all the pieces that went out, Gratitude has ended up with people who are going through momentous things in their lives.
There's a list of people who've expressed interest in participating here: http://forums.wearablesculpture.com/index.php?a=topic&t=214 and you could pick someone from there and contact them to see if they'd still like to be involved.
Best of luck to you, and I hope things improve for you from here forward.

If this piece is in your possession, or if you know who it's currently visiting... it's about time for it to start heading home. May 10th will mark one year from when they went out into the world. If you'd like to pass it along briefly to one more person, that's fine, but please try to get it back in the mail to me by May 1st. My mailing address is:
Wyrding Studios
P. O. Box 3522
Concord NH 03302
Thank you!
